  • Kalevala
    Series of illustrated folklore poems
  • For this project I drew inspiration from folklore and the Finnish national epic Kalevala.
    I picked excerpts from the epic and illustrated them, compiling them into a book with some hand written text.

    The poems have a fairly grim and dark tone to them which I wanted to translate into my illustrations by limiting my colour palette to dark blues and red. I have used mainly ink and watercolour to produce these illustrations, and added some digital elements in Photoshop.
