I love the magic of a stroke of paint. How a blank surface can be transformed into an image that makes us feel something. My work begins with this- keeping the transformation from nothing to something present. The something in this case are birds. The small birds that sing to each other when I'm inside working or fly overhead when going for a walk. They've been our neighbors since we first looked up in the sky, embodying our sense of freedom and hopefulness. They are our mythic companions in our shared narrative of life.
