Description
I think that the best show on television right now is David Duchovny’s Showtime series, "Californication," which must seem to most people to be nothing more than a celebration of sexual freedom in perhaps the perfect place for it all... Hollywood. Now in its 5th season, Duchovny reprises the role of Hank Moody, the poster boy for male prowess— a brash ladies man and terminally romantic writer transplanted from his native New York to Venice Beach. The show offers everything needed to be enticing— including story lines about screenwriting for gangsta rappers, an obnoxious stripper and a little selflessness... from Hank... all for his wife and daughter. The "Zen" of Hank Moody is about letting go, not allowing anyone you love know that you've sacrificed most of your dignity as well as your unseen vulnerabilities... and that you take comfort in the meaningless flings because it's not about "you"... it's about the people you love... whether they know this or not.

  • I think that the best show on television right now is David Duchovny's Showtime Original Series, "Californication, which must seem to most people to be nothing more than a celebration of sexual freedom in perhaps the perfect place for it all... Hollywood, California. The show has recently concluded its 5th season, as Duchovny brilliantly reprised the role of Hank Moody, the poster boy for male prowess- a brash, unapologetic ladies man and terminally romantic writer/novelist, transplanted from his native New York to Venice Beach. The show offers everything needed to be sexy and enticing- inluding storylines about screenwriting for gangsta rappers, an obnoxious stripper and a whole lot of hidden selflessness from Hank... all for his wife and daughter.

The "Zen of Hank Moody" is about letting go of the need to be in the spotlight of heroism. It's about not allowing anyone you know and love, that you've sacrificed most of your dignity... as well as your carefully hidden vulnerabilities and needs... and that you [Hank] take comfort in the meaningless flings... because it's not about "you" at all... it's about the people you love and cherish and protect with every ounce of your being...
